Taken, Blessed, Broken, and Given: An Examen

He took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is my body.”
– Mark 14:22

Today we’re releasing a variation on the Ignatian Examen. “Took… blessed… broke… gave”. These are words Catholics will hear thousands of times in their lives. What comes to mind is the last supper and the Eucharist. But this body also refers to the Body of Christ.

In this variation of the Examen, you will pray through how God has taken you, blessed you, broken you, and will give you to the world.

  1. I really enjoyed this exam, little time to go back to myself

  2. Thank you for sharing with me just what I needed. God bless you, et al.

  3. My brokenness can be a balm for others. I appreciate this Examen.

  4. What an incredible Examen. Saving this for my daily prayer. Thank you for sharing it.

  5. Is it possible to have a version without music? I’m trying to do put Examen into my daily spiritual practice, and I’m a moderately experienced meditator. So a quiet version would be less distracting and allow me to go further into prayer.
